TracDrive Motor - Cord Curtain Controller

TracDrive Motor - Cord Curtain Controller

The TracDrive motor system has been specially designed to be a bolt-on extra and provides a simple solution to the problem of where to locate the track motor drive unit. The TracDrive can mount directly beneath a track system or can be wall mounted with additional brackets.

The TracDrive motor unit, once bolted onto the end of the track and reeved with the operating cord, will drive most system layouts, straight and curved up to 25M long and will operate with scenery or curtains including the rearfold system at a max weight limit of 300kg.

The TracDrive offers many advantages over more conventional systems with helically grooved winding drums that utilise wire rope. The TracDrive motor unit uses pre-stretched polyester cord making TracDrive extremely silent including the rearfold function. The TracDrive unit will provide variable speed from a crawl speed to 0.7m/s; the TracDrive with connectors is very competitive as specialist personnel and skills are not required for installation.

The TracDrive motor is a three phase 0.4KW 50 Hz motor. The motor can be wired in Star 415 volts ac or Delta 240 volts ac. For variable speed the standard Triple E control will be required and requires a 230v 13Amp single phase 50Hz supply.

The TracDrive housing incorporates a junction box which will accept all the connections for the motor and control (thermal trip & limits) circuits. The method of termination to the junction box can be hard wired via cable glands or the use of connectors depending on customer requirements. We can also incorporate an isolator on the junction box to allow safe isolation for maintenance of the system.

TracDrive – in Detail

We offer the TracDrive motor in a standard version, which can be customised to meet your special requirements. The following chapter will give you information on how to install and maintain a TracDrive motor unit. The TracDrive motor unit can either be track mounted or wall mounted. For track mounting the holes in the top of the unit enable all of our cording options to be motorised.

Track Mounting

The TracDrive motor unit can either be track mounted or wall mounted.

In the case of a wall mounting, our TracDrive unit will be equipped with a set of wall mount brackets that fit to the back of the motor housing.

We supply 2 x 1m long Unistrut channels with our wall brackets, these are attached to the wall first. This gives vertical adjustment and simplifies the cord tensioning by simply sliding the whole motor unit vertically up or down the Unistrut.

Mechanical Installation

The TracDrive unit is a maintenance free system; periodic checks should be made for loose components. As we use cord for the power transmission it may be necessary from time to time to re-tension the cord, as the cord is likely to stretch when being exposed to tensile load. To compensate the elasticity of the cord our TracDrive is fitted with a tensioning system.

It is important to mention, that the rope tensioner spring must be compressed during cording up to compensate for rope stretch.
